Hello Friday. Very nice to see you again.
I hope you all managed to survive the week without any major upheaval. I know getting back into the groove can be tough after a long holiday weekend. I know my brain has been in slow-mo, but I think it has something to do with the insanely high temperatures that are still hanging around. You know what? I’ll take it. Anything is better than cold to me! Let’s get this gratitude party started!
1. Last night I went to a fun blogger event at See’s Candy in Fashion Valley Mall. I got to see a few friends whom I haven’t seen in ages, and of course got to eat tons of candy! Look at this haul they sent me home with!!!! I’m going to try to exhibit some self control when it comes to this, or even better, cook up some recipes with it, but we’ll see. I’m not so strong when it comes to See’s.
2. The Hubs got our old, crummy, portable air conditioner working in our bedroom. Can I just say, THANK GOD!!! It’s totally “jimmy rigged” all propped up on a rubbermaid bin and taped up, but its working, and we can enjoy a “cool” 78 degrees while sleeping. (That’s pretty much as low as it will go, but its better than nothing) The funniest thing is that in the morning after the dogs are fed, Tally stands by the bedroom door waiting to be let back in to the AC. You’d think this heat would be good for her old bones.
3. Last week The Hubs and I tried hot yoga for the first time (one week unlimited for $10) This week I decided I liked it enough to buy a package and sure enough there was a Groupon for $50 off! Yahoo! Makes me believe that the universe is telling me I should stick with it.
4. Ok, this is amazing. I’m sitting at my dining room table, staring out the front window while I write this post, like I do every morning, and lo and behold, there is a perfect, full arch, double rainbow directly in front of my house! I’m pretty sure it didn’t rain last night so this is even more miraculous. I’m super grateful that I’m awake at this hour to watch the sunrise and to witness this beautiful moment. Recently I posted THIS article on my Facebook page about asking yourself one question that could change your life. This is truly what happened to me 3 years ago, and it really DID change my life. Part of the author’s personal story (and mine) had to do with getting up early every day. I love the quiet and solitude of the early mornings, but moments like this make me feel like I’m part of some super special club or something. Like, “everyone who’s sleeping right now is missing this!!” It’s crazy the way that life will reassure you of your choices in the smallest ways if you are paying attention.
That’s it for me this week. I mean, what can top an out-of-nowhere double rainbow right? I’m looking forward to spending some time with my gals at the pool this weekend and attending Fig Fest on Sunday!
I’d also like to take a quick second to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my oldest and dearest friend Katy. We’ve been friends since the first day of kindergarten and I love her to death. I hope you have the best birthday EVER!
