Last Friday I was in the midst of a complete mental breakdown so I was unable to write a Great List. Sometimes we all just need to freak out for a day or so in order to gain perspective on what’s really happening in our life. I’m feeling much better now that I cried it out, so I’m back with two weeks worth of gratitude to kick my weekend off right.
1. The Hubs, dogs and I had an awesome long weekend together last week. We explored several new hiking trails, checked out Sausalito, and had a great lunch with a friend. This kind of stuff reminds me of why I agreed to move here to begin with. In San Diego, we were stuck in a rut as a family, and being able to experience all these cool new things together has been a real joy. Extra bonus, the dogs have never been so happy in all their lives. All the off leash activities we’ve found for them have been a Great counterpoint to them being cooped up in our one bedroom apartment every day.
2. Quite possibly the Greatest thing of all is that our new house is finally done today! We’ve been living in limbo for weeks with our moving date contingent on when the renovations are complete. Now we are finally able to put into place an actual timeline for closing and moving in. I cannot tell you what a relief it will be to finally get settled in our new neighborhood. This month has been the most challenging of my entire life, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to get the news that it’s time to move again.
3. I’ve been driving over to our new neighborhood almost everyday to learn my way around, and see what’s nearby. I learned yesterday that two of the most recommended restaurants by people I know are within walking distance of our new house. Not to mention all kinds of cool shops, a grocery store and a vet’s office. All of this makes me even more stoked to get into our new home. I loved our neighborhood in San Diego more than anything, and I’m super grateful that this new neighborhood seems to have just as much to offer. I’m looking forward to exploring it further and hopefully feeling at home there very soon.
4. It’s been pretty lonely with The Hubs working or traveling every day, and me being home with the dogs. Fortunately, I’ve got some lunches and meetings set up for next week with some local bloggers and other creatives that I’ve reached out to. I was having a bit of a pity party lately, and I’m super Grateful to actually have something to do besides wander around by myself. Yay for actual conversations with other people!
Have a great weekend!
