What a difference two weeks can make! My last Great List was dismal at best. Since then, we closed on our house, moved in and have unpacked virtually everything we own. I feel like a completely new person. I’m so relived, and so happy, there is nothing I can think of that I’m NOT grateful for this week.
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” -Winston Churchill
I would first like to say thank you for all the encouraging words after my last list. I seriously needed that. You guys rock. Throughout this whole fiasco, I tried to keep reminding myself without risk there is no reward. Without rain there are no rainbows. Without sorrow there is no joy…..you get the idea. I knew there was something Great coming, I just was having trouble finding the patience to wait for it. So here I am now, in a much better place, and feeling ready to kick off my new life on a positive note.
1. The best part of our new house is the yard. It’s actually a pretty chintzy yard (we have big plans for it’s future) but the fact that it’s fully fenced and I can just open the door and let the dogs out solves so many of my previous issues. They get to run and play and sun themselves at their leisure, and I can work without them constantly underfoot, and don’t have to worry about them eating random stuff that makes them sick. Greatest. Thing. Ever.
2. Having to stifle my creativity for so long really sucked. I NEED to be able to create. It’s my lifeblood. It’s what drives me. I am not myself if I’m not making stuff. Not only am I finally able to get back into the kitchen and back to blogging, which I’ve missed so much, but immersing myself in the creation of a new home space has been incredibly rewarding as well. Despite the insane amount of work we’ve already accomplished, I know there is still more to come, and I’m really looking forward to every step.
3. After a week of solid rain last week, this week has been sunny and very warm. All our broken down boxes are gone and I feel like it’s been springtime at it’s finest. Truly a new season not only weather-wise, but also spirit-wise.
That’s it for now. See you back next week with more gratitude!
