I’m so proud of myself for sticking to a pretty rigorous workout schedule the last two weeks. Every single day I’ve thought to myself “I have never been so tired in my life”, but then I remember that I’ve been to Vegas many times, so yeah, I’ve been WAY more tired. Possibly not so muscle fatigued tired, but more tired nonetheless.
1. This week I’ve been very grateful for the health of my body. I’m 34 years old and dare I say I’m in the best shape of my life? Nearly two years ago I took up yoga and it was life changing. With regular weekly practice I was able to eliminate all sorts of bodily pains I had been dealing with for years, not to mention vastly improve my mental clarity and focus.
I was feeling pretty good about my strength and fitness level until I tried Pilates recently. Holy hell I haven’t been so sore in ages! I thought I was pretty strong but Pilates quickly humbled me, and showed me I still have a lot of work to do. I’m realizing how much I thrive on challenges like this. The second an obstacle is presented to me, I become super motivated to overcome it.
In a complicated world, exercise is a super simple tool for setting and achieving goals. So many things in our lives are abstract, but exercise is very straightforward. I’ve needed that lately. Something to focus on that isn’t subjective. It’s been a big help.
2. The Hubs sent me flowers this week which is very uncommon, but was very appreciated. Sometimes you just need that validation you know? I see you. You matter. I’m thinking about you. I’m so grateful he could see I needed this, and made it happen.
So that’s about it. Not a bad week. I love that these lists allow me to scratch the surface of a tough week to reveal something shiny that’s always present underneath. Take a few moments for gratitude today, and start your weekend off on a peaceful note.
