This was one of those weeks that just crawled by. I’ve been lost in thought a lot lately, trying to figure out where I want to go next. I’ve gone through many periods like this one in my life. Times when I can’t really focus, my next step isn’t clear, and I feel as if I’m just floating through my days not really engaged. I’m trying to be patient because I know that this haze is only temporary, but it’s pretty disruptive. Fortunately, gratitude keeps me grounded and in tune with reality, because I tend to let my imagination take over.
1. I finally got a new car last weekend! I’ve been driving my old car, Senty for nearly 15 years, and her time was up. This car situation has been hanging over my head since early February, and anyone who knows me knows that I’m task oriented, and hate to have open ended things hanging around. I’m so grateful to finally be able to put the transportation inconvenience and mental anguish to rest! Car buying is not an easy task. Hopefully I’ll be driving my new ride for another 15 years and won’t have to deal with all this again for a while.
2. I took some really beautiful photos this week, and finished a painting I’ve been working on for more than a year. Seeing how much I’ve grown as an artist is a huge point of pride for me. Without my creativity, I would be totally lost. More than anything in the world, I’m grateful for this gift of expression. Often times, inspiration is the hard part, so I’m also grateful that I have a long list of ideas in the pipeline, so I can get started on my next piece right away.
3. I peeked in our bird nest this week and it was empty! I didn’t see any dead baby birds laying around the backyard, so I can only assume that they flew away safely. I’m grateful our porch can be the home base for this family year after year. It’s really fun to watch the whole process.
Olive and I are going on a long hike today to enjoy this sunny but cooler weather then I’m off to Dallas on Sunday to see my nieces and nephews who I haven’t seen in way too long. I hope you all have exciting things to look forward to this weekend.
