Despite getting slapped in the face by reality, this week was actually pretty Great overall. I’m still operating with a very peaceful heart, so I suppose it would be tough for anything to get under my skin at this point in time . I love the weeks when my gratitude just flows freely, but I always try to remember that finding gratitude in times of struggle is when it actually makes the biggest impact. With that said, let the good times roll!
1. I love this heat. Everyone has been complaining all week, but I’ve been basking in it! Warm sun on my face and a hot breeze says summer to me, which epitomizes all that is good in the world. Long days, warm nights, picnics, suntans, bike rides, beach days, popsicles, baseball season, flip flops…..the list goes on and on. Summer is my most favorite time of the year, and this week has gotten me so excited for what’s to come.
2. Speaking of awesome summer activities, I met up with Jen and the kids after work one day at the beach park. Jen brought wine and we just relaxed and chatted while the kids built sandcastles and played on the playground. Val and Stefan walked by and we said hello. The sun was low, and the whole scene was just pure peace. I feel like I haven’t seen Jen in so long, and it was great to catch up, and spend such a lovely evening with such lovely company. I rode my bike home as the sun was setting, handlebar streamers blowing in the breeze, and I thought my heart would burst with joy.
3. Whole turkeys were on sale last week so I bought one. Yesterday I fired up the smoker and slow cooked that baby. Meanwhile I did yard work, and errands, and worked in our outdoor living room. When The Hubs got home we had a turkey feast outside while catching up on this week’s Survivor. Yay for outdoor dining! I’m so grateful for the space we live in. This house has been a dream for us, and hopefully we’ll be able to stay here for a very long time.
There you have it folks, summertime bliss at it’s finest, and I’m just warming up. I’m going to do my best to make the rest of my summer as idyllic as this week has been. When life gets in the way, I’m going to look back at this post to remind myself that despite all the junk that might get thrown at me, sun on my face and a warm breeze are very powerful things.
Find something to be grateful for in your life today, and enjoy your weekend
