Woo hoo! I’m super stoked on this gray, rainy weather we’re having right now. I always love the coziness of rain, but Olive tends to go a bit stir crazy when it rains and, in turn, drive me totally nuts. However, her friend Jack came yesterday for an extended stay, so the two of them can entertain each other, and I can enjoy the mellow mood in peace. Yay! I’m going to start off my gray Friday with a little gratitude.
1. I hosted another amazing Collaborative Thread event this week. The reason I have stuck with this organization for so long is because it really lifts me up and inspires me each and every time. I’m so proud of the work we’re doing, the community we’re building, and the women that I’m getting to meet. I’m insanely grateful for the enrichment that this group has brought to my life.
2. Despite a terrible drought this year (until today), my veggie garden is doing better than ever. I made my first harvest this week, jalapeños, and am poised to harvest a bunch of zucchini next week. In a way, I feel like my garden is like having another pet. Every morning I run outside to “check on it” and see what new developments have occurred since the prior day. I carefully pull of dead leaves and inchworms, and make sure that the irrigation is perfectly placed. It’s fun for me, and I’m grateful that so far this year I haven’t had any of the problems I’ve had in the past 2 years (dogs digging holes, and aphids).
3. The Hubs and I took a little getaway to San Francisco last weekend, and it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. I love it when that happens. I was completely depleted both mentally and emotionally, and desperately needed to step away from my screens and my life for a second. I also really needed to connect with The Hubs, so I’m most grateful that this was his idea, and his planning. We’re both pretty independent people, but we also always seem to know when it’s time to step in to help carry the other one.
That’s it for me this week. Looking forward to a cozy day of extra coffee, baby hugs, and perhaps a glass of wine. I hope you all have a joyful weekend.
