I’m sitting here trying to write this, and I can’t stop laughing about something dumb I saw on a friends Facebook page. People can say whatever they want about social media and the internet shortening our attention spans, or replacing true face-to-face human experiences, but it provided me with laughter to start my weekend off on a Great foot, so for that, I’m a fan.
Since I’m already in a Great mood, let’s count the rest of the high points from my week.
1. My week has been packed full of activities. I’ve had events, meetings, and lunches galore. Fortunately, Olive has a friend staying with us for the week, Teddy, so I don’t have to feel guilty about her being home alone. As I hinted at earlier this week I have decided to take a part time production job which officially starts in July. I haven’t worked for someone else for a long time, so this was a pretty major decision for me. Part of my hesitation was the loss of my “free time”, a term I use loosely. As someone who does what they love for a living, free time doesn’t truly exist. I’m always doing something related to Betsylife. After all, you can’t schedule creativity. I was scared that having a schedule on someone else’s time would hinder my creativity, and essentially make me miserable. This week was kind of a test to see how I felt when I stacked my schedule full of planned activities. Thus far, I only feel accomplished, motivated and inspired, which is Great. I’m hoping that this trend continues throughout the rest of the year as I delve into this new venture.
2. Seeing my friend Jen for only 5 minutes and getting to hug her was totally one of my high points for the week. Relationships and situations that I have always relied upon as a constant foundation for everything I do have been completely turned upside down this year. I’ve felt lost, floating, not knowing where to land next. Jen’s hug brought me back down to earth for a second. It was a Great reminder of how simple things can make the hugest difference to someone. She was stressing too, so I hope my hug helped her back.
3. I tried a new yoga studio this morning which turned out to be awesome! I’ve been searching for a little more variety in my yoga practice, so I’m super stoked to finally have found a new place after much trial and error. Looking forward to expanding my yoga horizons.
I’ve got a clean house, a wine club shipment was delivered, and I have absolutely ZERO scheduled for tomorrow. Looking forward to some me time! Hope you all have an awesome weekend.
