This week was pretty darn good, but the best part is that I’m on my way to Seattle to spend the weekend with my friend Jenny. I haven’t seen Jenny since January, and I’ve been missing her terribly. I’ve said again and again what a weird year this has been for me. Jenny always grounds me, truly listens, tells me the truth in the most caring way, and always makes me laugh. I don’t just want to hang out with Jenny, I NEED to hang out with Jenny. She is necessary to my life. This is why we’ve made it a priority to see each other twice a year (with very few exceptions) for the past 17 years despite living in different states. That’s true friendship folks…..either that or codependence. I’ll take it, either way.
Now, on to the gratitude!
1. Without saying too much out of respect for the other persons privacy, I will say that one of the greatest parts of this week was having a pretty life changing conversation with someone I am close to. I want to elaborate so much more, but I just can’t. All I can say is that I’m so grateful to have been privy to this conversation. It made me very happy and proud.
2. Val and Jen brought the kids over to swim yesterday, and it finally felt like summer. I loved seeing Fiona go in the pool for the first time in her entire life, and Leila jump off the side and exclaim, “I’m so brave!” I really hope we can live in this house for many years (we rent), and I hope this pool is a source of lots of fun memories for these kids.
3. I cranked out what I consider to be some INCREDIBLE ideas this week that will be featured on this blog very soon. When I was in college my professors used to say, “if you make 20 works of art, maybe only one of them will actually be good”. I’m beyond stoked about what I created this week, and I hope I can look back on this stuff and think of it as actually good. I’m go grateful for the burst of inspiration. It’s not always an easy thing to come by.
That’s it for me this week. Off to the Pacific Northwest!
