I have been looking forward to this Great List all week long. Not only does writing this mean that its Friday (yea weekend!), but it also means that I survived a pretty rough week. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday last week. Mine was excellent! We had a Great pool party with lots of friends, Great food, and Great weather for at least half the day. How hilarious is it that Val and I wore these perfectly coordinating dresses? I swear we didn’t plan it. All in all it was amazeballs. However, having such an awesome weekend made starting this week seem like such a downer. All the more need to count our blessings so let’s forget all the tough stuff and get to the Great stuff!
1. My most favorite pair of jeans recently started to wear thin so I ordered a new pair. When they arrived, they were a perfect fit no alterations necessary! These days that’s almost unheard of. Thank you Gap.
2. Some money from some jobs I did a while ago finally started to come in. The life of a freelancer can be up and down in the money department. First you send an invoice, then you wait. I’m used to it by now, but I still get stoked when the big checks start rolling in!
3. Subsequently, our credit card finally has a zero balance! Wahoo! Remember when we were traveling for like 2 months straight? Yeah, that cost a pretty penny. Totally worth it, but still took a second to pay it all off. There’s something very refreshing about seeing that big ZERO on your credit card statement.
4. In my former life I was a QuickBooks consultant. This week my old boss got into a bit of a pickle and called me to see if I would help him out and do a Point of Sale install and training for him while he was out of town. I really struggled with the decision for so many reasons, but in the end I did it, because I just feel like if a friend asks you for help, you help them. From the moment I agreed to do it, I just had this pit in my stomach. I was dreading it. In the end, it all worked out fine and it was no big deal, but the Great part is that “UGH” feeling gave me such validation that I made the correct choice in leaving that career behind when I did. My boss was great, the money was great, the hours were great, but the work was so tedious and I just dreaded work each day. I’m so grateful that I never wake up dreading work anymore.
That’s where I’m at this week. What Great things are going on with the rest of you? Leave me a comment and let me know! I really love hearing about it.
My weekend plans consist of getting a pedicure, baking a pie, and working on the next Betsylife video installment with my friend Alex. I hope you all have a Great weekend!
