I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Two of my three most stressful events are over with and I’m heading into the homestretch this weekend. I’m really looking forward to normalcy next week. Despite the crazed insanity, this week has had some high points. Here they are.
1. We had our annual Collaborative Thread mixer this week which is probably our biggest event of the year. This involved months of planning and logistics, but it went swimmingly, as it always does. I’m always grateful to be surrounded by creative energy. For me, the event had two highlights. The first being that it was held at Lux Art Institute which hosts artists in residency and does art summer art camps for kids. Both times I’ve been there now I’ve been so moved my the kids art spaces, and the true beauty and poignancy of tiny creative thoughts. I learned from the education director that you can apply to teach a class to kids if you submit a concept online which is something I am definitely going to do.
2. The second high point of the event was that I had multiple people tell me that the reason they love Collaborative Thread is because of how welcoming every event is. As someone who formally (and sometimes currently) gets major anxiety walking up to a stranger and introducing themselves, Collaborative Thread has always been a space where people were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely interested in learning about my business. It has really helped me build my confidence in speaking about my brand, and I’m thrilled to know that other people in the group are getting that same benefit. After all, that’s what we’re all about. Connecting like minded entrepreneurs, and building a network of strong female creative voices. I never want to be thought of as exclusive or clique-y, and I think we’re on the right path.
3. For a couple of years I’ve kind of been obsessed with Febreze car clips, which are car air fresheners. When you haul wet dogs around frequently, you kind of have to be on top of your air freshener game. I’ve been a Hawaiian Aloha scent loyalist forever, but this week I discovered that they make Gain laundry detergent scent. That’s my all time favorite smell!!! I find myself thinking of places I can drive just so I can get in my car which now smells like Gain. I’m in love. It’s such a dumb little thing, but I was so excited about it I actually texted my friend. I’m telling you…..it’s truly the little things.
One more wacky weekend, and then I’m back into a normal routine. Thanks for sticking with me. Hope you all are having a great summer.
