This hasn’t been the greatest week. I know its Fun Month and all, but this week was a little clunky on my end. Nothing bad really happened, I was just in a foul mood for a few days, and didn’t really feel like being around people. Anyone else get this way sometimes? I’m choosing to place my crabbiness aside today, and be grateful the good things that went on throughout the week. I’ve been doing this list long enough to know that there is always something.
1. The greatest thing that happened this week is that I bought a gentle leader for Olive. We’d been using a pinch collar with her, and it was doing a pretty good job. Recently I had been having some pain, and after some testing I realized that I had pinched something in my back in a place that could only be attributed clenching my arm while holding the leash. Even though the pinch collar kept her under control, she’s a very strong dog and it did take effort to run or walk with her by my side. For a few weeks I’d been walking her while holding the leash in my left hand, which was awkward for me, so I decided to take her to Petco to see if a gentle leader would work. Long story shortened, its a miracle. It instantly stopped all pulling whatsoever. I wish I had done this 6 months ago, but you live and learn right? Next time you see us walking around town, feel free to marvel at Olive’s calmness and heeling abilities.
2. The Hubs and I have made really good progress on our 1000 piece puzzle this week. Our goal is to finish it by next Thursday when our housekeepers come back so they don’t think we can’t finish a puzzle in 2 weeks. We’re to the part now that’s mostly solid blue sky pieces which is a pain, but we chisel away at it a little each night. A while back The Hubs and I instituted a 2 hour “no technology” rule in our house four days a week. Its been great for us to not only spend time talking with each other (and honing our puzzling skills) but individually for each of us to step away from the responsibilities that beckon us from our devices.
3. It actually rained on the one day I didn’t have to work this week! San Diegans appreciate rain whenever it happens because we rarely get to see it. However, when you have to leave the house in rain it can be a nightmare. For once it was windy and rainy and the only thing I had to do was sit on the couch in my sweats and cuddle with the dogs all day long. I even drank some hot tea.
Well, that’s pretty much the best I can do this week. I’m mostly grateful that I didn’t pick a fight with The Hubs and I didn’t have uncontrollable road rage (just some minor road rage). We’re all entitled to our funks once in a while, but just remember that the rest of the world is still moving around you, and there’s plenty of good things to be seen if you just take a moment to look for them. Enjoy your weekend!
