This week has inched by in slow motion for me. I’ve been battling a head cold, and every day has seemed like an uphill climb. I recently said to Val, “I work on two levels. The first is super motivation-getting shit done-taking no prisoners, and the second is I’m exhausted and can’t see straight-Just. Keep. Going.” This was a Just. Keep. Going. kind of week.
As I slogged through each day just trying to the point where I could finally get in bed and sleep, a few things really cheered me up. Allow me to share……
1. My sister in law texted me pictures of my twin nieces first sets of pigtails. Aren’t they frickin’ adorable!? I’m so grateful for a sister in law who texts me photos all the time from Chicago so I don’t miss my nieces and their older brother growing up. Technology: Keeping families together since 2000.
2. I got a ton of surprise mail this week. Sure, the holidays mean a package at my door nearly every day, but most of those are things I ordered for other people. This week I was surprised by a few AWESOME packages addressed to me that I was not expecting at all. First I got a sweet Holiday card and dog treat making kit from my sweet friend Jennifer at Pimlico Magazine, then I got a must have box from my friends at Pop Sugar which actually contained some super cool stuff like nail art and champagne flutes (yeah!), and finally I got a fabulous bottle of wine from the crew at Last Bottle Wines which will go perfectly with the Christmas feast I’m planning for The Hubs and I. Yay mail! Thank you to all who thought of me. You SERIOUSLY helped me get through this week.
3. I went to Irvine on Wednesday to visit my sister in law in the hospital (don’t worry, she’ll be fine). It was a great visit, but I was definitely feeling under the weather by the time I left, and was dreading the drive back. Fortunately, the traffic gods were on my side and I got back to my quilt and cold meds in record time.
So that’s it. I didn’t win the lottery, but it is Friday, so that’s something to be thankful for. I’m looking forward to more rest and recuperation in hopes of being 100% healthy before the holiday next week. I hope you all have a joyful weekend!
