Hooray! I did it! I reached my one year blogaversary! I think most people doubted my commitment to this blog when I first started, but I’m happy to prove them all wrong. It took me 30 years to find some real direction in my life, but I can honestly say that I have never felt more motivated, more supported, and more inspired in my life. The internet is an unlikely place to find such a supportive community, but I’m glad I put myself out there because the payoffs have been incredible!
Although a lot of my blog centers around cooking and food, I personally see it as my art, an expression of myself, and I’m honored to have the largest audience to date for my ideas. I hope that I can continue to interest, amuse and entertain you for more years to come. I truly thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for your interest in and support of this blog. It has made me feel so loved. I’ve met some wonderful new friends through this venture and hope to continue this trend into the future.
Today is also the day of the memorial service we are holding for my Grandma at the place she loved the most, our cabin on Lake Vermillion. I may not be able to choke out the words I truly want to say, so I think I’ll write them here. After all, the ideals she embodied are many that represent what Betsylife is all about.
“My Grandma was not the hair curlers and boo-boo kissing Grandma. She wasn’t even always that outwardly nice to kids. What she taught me though, was one of the most valuable lessons of my life. That is, that nothing should ever stop you from doing what you want. Not because you’re a girl, not because someone says you’re too old, and definitely not because society says its not your place. Do what you love. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and you will never go wrong”.
Thanks again readers! You’re all super awesome!
