Does anyone else get patchy, dry, itchy winter skin? I absolutely do, and I don’t even live in an extreme climate. I can’t imagine what my skin would look like if I were going in and out of icy temperatures and heated buildings. When our mild San Diego winter strikes, I always say that I feel like my skin is peeling off. My main dry skin problem areas are my hands and my face, but I have found a solution!
My secret weapon is vitamin E oil. Vitamin E oil can be found at any drugstore, and let me tell you, it works! I slather it on my dry, cracked cuticles before bed, and when I wake up, they are good as new. I dab it on my peeling, itchy forehead, and it clears right up. Sure, its a little greasy and messy, but its totally worth it to not be constantly scratching. I know what you’re thinking, “put oil on my face?!?! I’ll totally break out.” Not true. Vitamin E oil actually is a universal cleanser that works for all skin types.
The secret to vitamin E oil is its healing, antioxidant properties. It prevents free radicals from forming on the skin, and accelerates cell turnover. This also makes it a powerful anti-aging remedy. I may or may not dab it around my eyes to prevent crows feet. (ok, I do) I must say, I think I look pretty darn young for my age/the amount of time I spend in the sun. Vitamin E oil can also help cure sunburn and lessen the appearance of scars or stretch marks! So forget all the pricey lotions at the store that are full of artificial chemicals and fragrances. Pick yourself up a bottle of vitamin E oil, and get rid of that itchy dry skin once and for all.
