The last few mornings have been cool and foggy. I’m definitely feeling the holiday spirit and am very much looking forward to hosting Thanksgiving next week! (Not to mention trimming the Christmas tree over the weekend!) This weather inspires ideas of holiday crafts, cozy evenings on the couch watching movies and drinking spiced cider, and outfits topped with boots and scarves!
Nothing says cozy better than a piping hot bowl of hearty soup and a cup of chai tea. Mmmmmmmmmm. I love Italian wedding soup and have never tried to make it from scratch before. Of course, my new fave cookbook, Ina Garten “Back to Basics”, had a recipe in it so I decided to make it for The Hubs who just returned from frigid Montana. Leila was here to help me while her mom got a haircut, although she didn’t do much but sleep and cry a bit. It’s still always great to see her sweet face out of the corner of my eye.
I did not have the chicken sausage required to make the meatballs so I just made it with plain ground chicken. I think it really could have used the sausage. Still very cozy nonetheless!
Ps. Love the cute star shaped pasta!
Today I’m going shopping for a bunch of holiday gear then heading over to my bestie Val’s house to watch the Bears game and eat some slow cooker beef sandwiches! You can take the girl out of Chicago but you can’t take Chicago out of the girl. Looking forward to the weekend!
