Hello! I have emerged from my weekend haze, and am finally ready to face the new year. We had a gloriously warm and sunny weekend here in San Diego, so I was able to kick off my new year poolside with some great friends. Nothing is as energizing to me as feeling the warm sun on my face.
Between smoking meat, catching rays, eating some lucky black eyed peas, and having a dance party, I was able to take a bit of time for reflection over the long weekend. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, every year of my life has been more difficult, but also way better than the one before. I don’t believe in new year’s resolutions, because I think that if you want to change something in your life, start now. Don’t ever wait for tomorrow. That being said, my general theme for 2012 is going to be “You get what you give” I really believe that everything I have, or do not have, in my life is because of the efforts (or lack thereof) that I have put into my goals. If the potential for success and happiness is limitless based on effort and focus, then 2012 should be incredible according to my current motivation. I guess we’ll see next December how well my theory is proven. I know its all up to me. Whatever I can imagine, you’d better believe I’m going to go after! Its going to be an exciting time, that’s for sure.
As a symbolic gesture of moving forward into new realms of life, I will be throwing away my favorite pair of sweatpants that I’ve had for about 8 years. These sweats have been dubbed my ‘most hated article of clothing’ by The Hubs, and although are the perfect weight and fit for San Diego temps, I’m finally willing to admit that maybe they are a little ragged, and its time to move on. This one’s for you Hubs!
Happy new year to all of you! May 2012 teach you what you are really capable of!
One last note, I’d love to wish a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my very best friend, Valerie! May this year be OUR best year yet!!
