Who knew I could rack up such a terrible hangover at a one year old’s b-day party? I think it was more like a sun/sugar/champagne hangover. Despite my need for recovery yesterday, Leila’s first B-day party on Saturday was a great success. Everyone was well fed, well liquored and well sunned. The little munchkin got buried in gifts (including my favorite the “learning vacuum”. You can bring that to my house anytime girlfriend!) and everyone got to enjoy a glorious San Diego day! Double bonus: my rainbow cake turned out frickin’ AWESOME!!! A great reward after the struggle it was to make it.
The hours of decor crafting spent last week totally paid off! I think the super awesome, bayside location helped to really showcase Jen and co.’s handiwork.
And as I mentioned before, I was responsible for the cake (and cupcakes), which turned out amazingly!
Leila had a ball! (She took a super long afternoon nap mid-party) I think what was great is that both sides of the family were there including grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Quite a feat considering no-one, except Grandpa Skip, lives in the state. Something she probably won’t remember, but the thing that I really loved about the whole day. She’s a very well-loved little lady.
Gotta have a pic of me with the B-day girl!!
If we’re gonna do a party like this every year, we’re gonna need to get a wagon! (or hire party planners) It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun too. Back to regular life again today. I hate when Monday’s feel like I’m waking up from a dream. I’m going to be insanely busy with work these next to weeks gearing up for my vacation. Getting really excited!!
