When your days are jam-packed, you’re running around like a crazy person, and you collapse into bed each night wondering what the heck just happened, you should definitely add, “get a puppy” to your list of responsibilities. At least that’s what I did over the weekend.
Sure this is probably the most chaotic month of my life. Yes, I can’t answer any questions that don’t relate to today or tomorrow, and holy cow to I feel WORN OUT at the end of each day, but when I saw this teeny face, I knew that she was meant to be a part of our family.
Meet Summer, Olive’s new puppy sister. She’s a 12 week old, cream dappled, short-haired dachshund with a kinked tail, who is full of personality. What’s one more major responsibility when it’s this cute right?
Needless to say I didn’t get much accomplished over the weekend once this little nugget showed up. Fortunately, puppies do sleep a lot so I was able to tinker in the kitchen a bit while she napped. Recently I had soufflé on the brain. I’m not exactly sure why, but there it was. One thing that occurred to me is that as a food stylist, I have made many a fake soufflé in my life, but I have never tried to make a real soufflé. After doing a bit of reading, I decided to give it a try.
Naturally I searched for coconut soufflé recipes since coconut is my all time favorite flavor. I found this coconut soufflé recipe that I decided would guide me on my inaugural attempt. Taste-wise and texture-wise it turned out delicious, although it didn’t puff as much as I had hoped it would.
I’m not ruling out user error since there was a puppy distraction that had to be factored in. I’m sure I’ll try it a few more times before attempting to develop my own version. Stay tuned, and be warned that a flood of puppy distractions and puppy pictures are on the horizon.
