The Hubs has been absent for dinner this week. He’s been at a conference and has had a lot of shmoozing to do. It’s okay by me because at least he’s in town. He’s always traveled a lot throughout our relationship. First in the Navy, then with his new job. I’ve developed quite a repertoire of dinners for one and meals that are good leftover because of this. Since I’ve been working so hard this week, I decided to make myself a nice dinner. My brother and sister in law sent us a bunch of steaks for christmas, so I thawed one out and decided to make a steak salad for dinner. No, not a steak AND salad. A steak salad.
Random side story. There’s this local San Diego “celebrity” named Sam the Cooking Guy. Once, The Hubs and I were watching his local “cooking” show and he made a steak salad. He grilled a steak, dumped a bagged salad onto a plate, topped it with bottled dressing, and put the steak on top. I was appalled! “That is NOT cooking!” I said. The Hubs thought it was hilarious and has teased me ever since about how cool Sam the Cooking Guy is. Well, here I am doing pretty much the same thing, and blogging about it for the world to read. At least I cut up my own vegetables!
I digress. Its super hot in San Diego this week (Ok, mid 70’s but that’s pretty hot compared to everywhere else). I was stoked to be able to fire up the grill and enjoy some outdoor time in bare feet and a tee. Besides, The Hubs hates when I serve salad for dinner.
Just like heaven! Gorgeous slab of meat basking in the glorious sunshine!
