This easy truffle recipe only requires chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. The rest is up to you.
I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that summer just isn’t happening for me this year. This is definitely not something that I was prepared for with my move to the Bay Area, but it is what it is, so I’m accepting it, and am ready to move forward.
The upside is that there is always a trade off. Even though there was no real summer, I am experiencing an actual fall season. Ok, maybe not midwest-style fall, which is fine with me, but definitely just-brisk-enough-without-being-too-cold temperatures, and actual crunchy leaves on the ground.
In the past I have dreaded fall because that means the end of daylight savings time, but this year I’ve decided to just embrace it and go with the flow.
Another upside is that my favorite grocery store in San Diego, Sprouts Farmers Market, just opened a brand new store here in Oakland. To get in the fall spirit, I went over to Sprouts and picked up a few items to create these festive Halloween truffles.
I love making truffles because they are so easy. All you really need is sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Then you can add whatever else you want to match your occasion.
For this particular batch I added a bit of pumpkin pie spice, then rolled them in coconut and added some spooky chocolate chip “eyes”. Fun right?
I also bought a few pumpkins and hung some Halloween themed window decals. I guess fall is the new summer (or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. We’ll see how I feel when winter rolls around.)
