Whoa boy, its almost Christmas. This week of work is gonna SUCK! I know that the Monday after Christmas is an “observed” holiday, but is this Friday one too? I may need to do some schedule shuffling. Other than that, I think I’m pretty ready for the holiday. I did my menu planning over the weekend. I’ll do my shopping on Weds, then prep on Thursday and Friday. We celebrate Christmas Eve with all our friends, so the majority of my cooking will go to that. This year, I have decided to also cook a nice Christmas Day dinner for just The Hubs and I. I think we’ll even bust out the good china. Ok, maybe a paper plate on the couch. We’ll see.
Over the weekend I finished all my gift wrapping and thought I’d share with you my gift wrapping insights. I love to wrap, but I also live in a very small house and don’t have a lot of room to store gift wrapping supplies. What I like to do, is use the brown paper that comes stuffed in Amazon boxes for shipping protection as the wrapping, then top it with a brightly colored bow. I save the bows and ribbons from gifts I’ve gotten in the past, and recycle those.
If I do buy new stuff, I generally get it at Tuesday Morning (discount store) and try to buy stuff that isn’t 100% “Christmas” so I’ll be able to use it year round.
I love how this isn’t your standard red and green Christmas palette!
I also love mixing patterns!
One cool thing I got this year was an awesome gift wrapping stamp set. This was a real bonus for all those brown wrapped gifts.
So fun! Under the tree has never looked so good. On a side note, The Hubs celebrated his 32nd b-day over the weekend. We had a few friends over and ate pizza. I made one of those giant cookie cakes, The Hubs fave.
The trick is to make it on a pizza pan. It turned out great! Ok, maybe the decorating wasn’t so top notch (You can see the finished product if you follow me on Instagram) but it tasted awesome and was perfectly cooked. I know The Hubs loved it!
Lots of cardio planned this week to burn off all the junk I consumed over the weekend. My skinny holiday is still going ok, but I’m finding it harder and harder to stay on track the closer we get to the actual holiday.
