Hey guys! Remember me? I’ve been away for a week on a little jaunt to Hawaii. Without rubbing it in too much, let’s just say it was a Great trip. I’m excited to wrap up January with some gratitude, and head into February with a clean slate.
1. The Hubs was out of town when I left for Hawaii, so we hadn’t seen each other in several weeks. I’m so happy to see him again! The Hubs and I are pretty used to one or the other of us traveling. It’s been like this for as long as we’ve been together (12 years), but I was telling my friends on vacation how I feel like we’re finally getting the hang of it. We’re at a place now where neither of us harbors jealousy (him, because I’m on vacation and he’s working) or resentment (me, because he puts work first and tends to let it affect our relationship). I’m so grateful that despite all the challenges we’ve had in our relationship, we both just keep at it, keep trying to be personally better while being more supportive of the other person. The work is paying off, and I can honestly say we’ve never been happier or stronger as a pair.
2. I am so grateful that I have the time and resources to not only go to Hawaii, which was a special occurrence, but mostly to be able to travel to see my best friend every year. Jenny and I have been friends since high school but separated since college, yet we’ve been spending her birthday together every year for the last 15 years or so. As a scorpio, I’m a very loyal person, and I am majorly grateful to have such a loyal and quality friend that loves me as much as I love her. I am fully aware of what a gift that is.
3. There’s a quote that says “The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea”. I’ve found that to be true many times in my life, and although I wasn’t suffering from any major issues, I do feel like spending 5 days staring at the ocean helped me to get my thoughts in order, and gain some clarity. I was using the hashtag #hawaiiismyspiritanimal on Instagram the whole time I was away, and I do feel like Hawaii never ceases to feed my spirit in the best possible way. Thank you Hawaii for being so magical.
I’m happy to be back, to be bronzed, and to get back to the business of providing awesome content for all you readers I love so much. Go Seahawks! (Jenny made me say that).
