Woooooo weeeeeeee!!!! That was a fun week! I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA lately, but it’s kind of hard to blog while on vacation. My mind becomes hyper focused on fun and relaxation which makes it hard to do anything else. I will say that this trip exceeded all of my expectations, and despite being home, I’m actually feeling very happy today. Here’s why life is so Great this week.
1. Spending quality time with good friends becomes more difficult as we get older. Keeping in touch these days means either I see someone who lives in another state and report back to everyone in San Diego, or I’m on the receiving end of the report from someone else. So rarely do I get to see everyone face to face all at the same time. I am so Grateful to Wills and Lindsay for hosting such an epic and beautiful wedding in Mexico, and I’m beyond Grateful to have gotten to even spend one hour, let alone an entire weekend, with so many people I love at once. My heart is so full right now.
2. Extending our trip with Val and Stefan was a GREAT idea as well. I always love catching up with old friends, but more importantly for me is to continuously strengthen the friendships that carry me every day of my life. I half jokingly used the hashtag #hesslerfamilyvacation on all our photos, but I do really mean it. They are truly my family, and this trip gave me the same sort of happiness a week at a family reunion would give to others.
3. Recently I’ve read/am reading 2 great books Fly Away by Kristin Hannah and Yes Please by Amy Poehler and have seen 2 incredible movies, Birdman and Boyhood. The gamut of emotions I’ve run while consuming all this art has been wonderful. I’m beyond grateful for my sensitive soul, and the ability to feel and relate to stories so deeply. There is nothing better to me than reading a book and feeling it for days after it’s done, or seeing a movie which taps into an emotional place that perhaps you haven’t visited in a while. Even better is that The Hubs is right there with me. I love having someone to discuss this stuff with who is equally excited and energized by the experience.
I will do my very best in the following days and weeks to keep this emotional high rolling. I am seriously bursting with gratitude right now. I hope you all can find some gratitude in your own lives to focus on this week. Happy weekend to all!
