This week has been a rough one. I haven’t been feeling well which means I haven’t been able to work out or drink as much coffee as I’d like to. The Hubs and I have been griping at each other all week long, and I’ve got obligations coming out of my ears that I can’t seem to motivate myself to get excited about. It’s weeks like these that make it tough to find something to be grateful for, but they’re also the weeks when gratitude becomes the most important. I dug deep and found a few rays of sunlight.
1. I finally got to yoga this morning and it majorly helped my mood. It also helped my body feel a bit better which still isn’t 100% right now. I’m so grateful to have yoga in my life. It has been instrumental in my growth personally, professionally, mentally and emotionally over the last almost 2 years that I’ve been a loyalist. If you’re ever feeling lost or stagnant in your life, I encourage you to give yoga a try. It’s a fantastic brain training tool.
2. A client wrote an insanely nice thing about me on Facebook which popped up in my notifications precisely at one of the lowest points of my week. They had no way of knowing that I was having a tough time, they just said the nice thing for the sake of being nice. Always be generous with your kind words, you never know how much of an impact they really have on people.
3. I climbed the California Tower at Balboa Park with my mom this week. It was one of the items on my 52 weekends list, and although we did it on a Thursday, I’m still going to count it. The tower has been closed to visitors for 80 years, and they just opened it tours on January 1st for the Balboa Park centennial. I’m sure you all know by now how much I love San Diego, so being able to see it from this new perspective was pretty awesome. We also spotted my dad (too chicken to climb to that height) buying popcorn at the snack stand far below which made me laugh because it’s so typical.
I almost just typed “sometimes it’s the little things”, but then stopped myself because in reality, it’s always the little things. This week the little things helped me get through. Looking forward to a brighter week next week.
