Gratitude comes more easily some weeks than others. This was an “other” week, but sitting here, drinking coffee and trying not to be grouchy while thinking of things to be grateful for is actually helping lighten my mood. It’s really amazing how gratitude works like that. Here’s the small things that made my week bearable, and kept me moving forward when all I wanted to do was hibernate.
1. I finally got my vegetable garden in the ground this week. I’m about 3 weeks behind my usual schedule, but the veggies are in nonetheless. Gardening is one of my most favorite things. I love going outside each morning to see how my ‘babies’ are doing. I love learning about what works and what doesn’t, and of course, I love having ready to eat veggies at the tips of my fingers. This is my 4th year of gardening, and I’ve scaled back quite a bit this year with the idea that “less is more”. I’ll keep you posted on the progress as my tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and watermelon grow!
2. Overall, I actually had a very productive week. I got in 3 really awesome workouts and 2 so-so workouts, I cooked and photographed a bunch of posts, and was finally able to catch up on my pile of busywork. It doesn’t look like our taxes are going to be filed on time, but what can you do? That’s what extensions are for.
3. Our housekeepers came this week so the house is spotless. The Hubs is away for the weekend visiting his Grandma, so I get to enjoy the clean for a couple of days before his suitcase explodes all over the living room upon his return. Another bonus of The Hubs being gone is full control of the remote, and not having to have white noise on while we sleep. Silence is golden!
I’m looking forward to celebrating my niece’s 1st birthday this weekend, and catching up with a ton of old friends. I’m certain this exercise in blessing counting has set me on a cheerier trajectory for the days to come. I hope you all enjoy your weekend, but if you’re in a funk, just know that this too shall pass.
