Phew! Friday finally. This week was bustling, but I am not complaining. Anything is better than my near-death illness last week. (Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration) Busy is always better than not busy in my book, so this week was a success.
1. Once I was finally able to drag my sorry, sick butt off the couch last weekend, I managed to get my vegetable garden planted. The Hubs built me two new planter boxes, and we spent the day preparing them for our annual planting. I learned SO MUCH from my inaugural vegetable garden last year, and I’m confident that this year’s crop will be far superior. This year we’ll be growing three kinds of tomatoes, zucchini, crookneck squash, spaghetti squash, three kinds of hot peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, strawberries, and experimental celery and lettuce plants from scraps. Now I just need to keep Olive from digging in the beds.
2. My taxes are complete…almost! I just have a couple of outstanding questions that The Hubs needs to answer, but for the most part they are done. This will be the first time in ages that we have not filed an extension. In past years I was working as a tax professional and was so busy doing everyone else’s taxes that mine were the last on the pile. The fact that I’m filing on time this year is a great reminder of how far I’ve come, and how blessed I am to be able to work at something I love. Ps. Taxes are still mind-numbingly boring to prepare
3. The weather has been perfect for running this week. I always say that I run because I have to. My metabolism is painfully slow, and in order to cook and eat what I do, and still stay in shape takes a lot of effort. I hate to run, but I do it out of necessity. I have to say though, this week has not been too terrible. There’s been beautiful sunny skies, and a cool morning breeze. I’ve actually kind of enjoyed myself. My new running mix on Spotify, and foot paths along the ocean don’t hurt either.
4. I am bursting with excitement about this creative collaboration I’ve been working on. Final result will be revealed here on Monday, but I’m thrilled with the progress. This is how I know that I’m doing something right. This feeling of exhilaration, and anticipation, and the fact the thought of this project is sparking so many new ideas in my head. I always knew I was destined to work in a creative field, and now that I’m actually doing it, it’s so much better than I ever thought.
Happiest Friday to each and every one of you! Thank you for your support and kind words last week when I was sick. You guys make writing this blog such a joy. Cheers to a wonderful weekend for us all!
