Happy first birthday today to my miniest friend Sydney. I’m very grateful to have been able to spend last weekend in San Diego with her, her sister, the rest of my mini friends, and my full-sized friends as well. Leaving these kids was one of the hardest parts about moving, but now, just like with the rest of my nieces and nephews, I get to be fun Aunt Betsy who shows up with gifts, gives them tons of treats, and let’s them do whatever they want. I think we’re all going to be just fine.
Beyond last weekend, here’s what’s been Great this week.
1. I was thrilled to have my creative partner Alex in town this week to film a new Betsylife video (finally!). I had hoped that 2015 would be the year of videos for me, but alas, the universe had it’s own plans. I’m starting to feel like I’ve successfully (for the most part) navigated a years worth of total uncertainty, so it’s time to get back to what’s most important to me, which is creating art that I’m proud of. I can’t wait to debut this latest endeavor soon.
2. I was dreading having to drive “all the way” to Palo Alto this week to photograph an event. However, the drive turned out to be lovely, and although it took more than an hour, it didn’t really seem all that far. I’ve never been one to like driving, but I’ve got to say that going to all these events is giving me a crash course in the geography of my new area. I learned my way around San Diego years ago by visiting bookkeeping clients at their place of business across the county, and now I’m getting that same education here in the Bay Area. It makes me excited to explore further.
3. I successfully broke up with my most difficult client this week. I don’t want to come off as unprofessional, but there comes a time in every relationship where the two parties are better off going their separate ways. I agonized over this decision for months because I hate to quit, and I believe in finding solutions no matter how challenging the scenario, but I had reached the end of my rope. The Great part is, my decision was met with support, and respect! I could not have asked for a better reaction, and now I feel the hugest sense of relief ever.
4. I have been bone tired for the last few weeks as my body adjusts to a new, earlier wake up time, and a new workout schedule. Almost as if the universe knew I couldn’t handle one more day, my workout class this morning was cancelled which allowed for some much needed extra rest. I feel like a new person today, and am looking forward to tackling the weekend head on.
Hope you all enjoy your weekend as well. Cheers Friday!
