I have to be honest, I faked you all out a little bit last week. When I was writing about a chill Memorial Day weekend. What I really meant was, I was en route to Las Vegas to surprise my baby brother for his 30th birthday! He was not surprised to see The Hubs and I, but he was surprised to go to Vegas at all, and to see their 2 best friends and my oldest brother who flew in from Chicago! The 7 of us had a WILD time, and I’m pretty sure Matt had the best birthday ever. Even though I’m now totally broke, it was so worth it.
Travels are TRULY officially over now, and I’m looking forward to a few weeks at home finally. Let’s get to this week’s gratitude!
1. I adore my brothers and being able to spend time with just them, sans the rest of the family, was so Great. We have another brother too who couldn’t make it, but I feel like last weekend will go down in history as some of the best “quality time” ever.
2. We came home on Sunday and did get to spend Monday with all our friends. Even though my brain and liver were completely fried, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a sunny holiday in San Diego. Our friends The Tibbles brought baby Max over, Jen came with Leila and Carson, of course our besties Val and Stefan were there, and our other friends Lauren and Jordan brought their daughter (and Leila’s bestie) Charlie. Jen had talked up swimming in the pool to Leila and when she showed up she was ecstatic! She jumped up and down and exclaimed “This is going to be so much fun!” However, the second she put one foot in the pool she instantly started crying. “It’s too cold!” Poor buddy. Sorry to get your hopes up Leila, but that display of cuteness totally made my day. She happily splashed in a large tupperware bowl of water with some plastic measuring spoons for the rest of the afternoon.
3. One of my very best friends closed on her new house in Seattle this week. I cried. Literally. I wrote on Facebook that I’ve been crying lots of tears of joy lately. This was one of those times. To know someone since high school, and to see them achieve so much, and to see their wonderful karma repaid so completely was overwhelming to me. Jenny, you deserve it girl! You’ve worked so hard, and you have truly earned every ounce of happiness in your life. I’m very, very proud of you. I’m hoping to make it up there in late summer or early fall to check out my new room!
4. I am so grateful to be feeling like myself again. I’ve gotten TONS of sleep this week, drank TONS of water, and ate a TON of vegetables. My mind is finally clear, I feel calm, my body feels normal again, and I’m excited to get back to my normal routine. I am very grateful to be able to travel, and see all my friends, but I love being at home the most.
With that being said, we have a bunch of friends coming in town this weekend to celebrate our friends Jon and Angie’s wedding. Hoping to keep it in check and not ruin my liver, but that’s always a possibility. I’m looking forward to catching up with those who I haven’t seen in ages, and of course, getting our dance party on!
Hope you all have a dance filled weekend as well!
