A weekly gratitude journal
I realize my Great Lists have been posting later and later on Friday these days, but that’s just the way it’s going to be from now on. Or maybe not. I can’t say for sure, all I can say is that I’ll do my best to keep them coming every Friday. I’m getting a lot better about dealing with uncertainty, and being flexible. I used to think I was super flexible, you have to be to work in production, but this move has showed me that I wasn’t really flexible in most other aspects of my life beyond working on a commercial set. I still try not to be late, and adhere to a personal business and work schedule/task list on a weekly basis, but I no longer freak out, stress out or beat myself up if I don’t finish something on time. Things are just different now. I’ve accepted that, and it’s kind of freeing really. On that note, here’s what I’m grateful for this week.
1. This was actually a pretty Great week at work, unlike the shit-show that was last week. I got to design and produce some really cute printed materials, I did an awesome photo shoot with some really cool new menu items (how cute are these mini salads?), I got to go shopping for props with someone else’s money, and I spent an afternoon in the kitchen working on plating design. It was like a creative soul’s dream week. The very best part of our move to Oakland is that for the first time in my life, I’m 100% working in a creative capacity. I was able to leave all my old business consulting clients behind in San Diego. No more guilt. Only creativity and inspiration. It’s been amazing.
2. Talked to Val for a long time this week. We are still sharing a brain despite the distance. She texted me to see if I wanted to catch up just as I was picking up the phone to call her. I guess 18 years of being attached at the hip doesn’t get erased so easily. We laughed and laughed, and she’s planning a trip to see me soon which makes me very happy. There is nothing Greater than talking to your best friend. Nothing.
3. SPOILER ALERT! An all new Betsylife is coming your way sometime later this summer. The official design began this week and I am super stoked! I figured with a new life, I need a new website, so stay tuned for exciting things to come.
I actually have to work this weekend at a wedding in Calistoga. I’m kind of excited because I’ve never been, and the sales manager from my work texted me some photos, and the venue looks awesome. When I work these types of events I show up, make sure everything looks perfect (plates, food buffets, appetizer trays, etc) snap a few photos, then leave. I seriously have the best job ever. Even though it’s a Saturday, it definitely doesn’t feel like I’m going to work. Hope you all have a Great weekend as well.
