Hey Friday peeps! I hope everyone had a great week. Even if it was crazy, stressful and seemingly terrible, we’re doing the usual Friday Great List where we take a second to really appreciate all that is great in our lives. Maybe it was just that there was no line at Starbucks one day, but I know there has to be something! Today my Buddhist quote of the day from my Google homepage was as follows:
“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”
That pretty much sums up the whole spirit of the Great List. My items are below, I’d love to hear the great things from your week too, so leave a comment and we can all start the weekend together from a happy perspective!
1. I took a major step professionally this week and resigned from my QuickBooks consulting job that I’ve been working at strictly as a way to pay bills for many years. 10 years after finishing art school, I’m finally on the path to take my creative food styling career to the next level. I don’t think my parents ever thought I’d use my BFA. Creativity has always been my driving force, and I’m so excited for what’s to come. I’ll keep you all posted as I continue on this path.
2. Some serious summertime fun with great friends has been going down lately. Sunshine, pool, outdoor dining. I could not be loving this more! The weather in San Diego has been absolutely divine, and I have been taking full advantage!
3. I started to take some sunrise walks. I’ll get up at 5:30 and go walk around the neighborhood for about an hour while the sun comes up. Its hard to get up early to “work out”. It easy just to wander around aimlessly in a sleepy haze while the sky changes and everything comes to life. I’m still burning 300-400 calories, but its waaaaaaaay more enjoyable than any workout I’ve ever done. Besides, starting the day in the silence of nature is really the greatest. The peace of it all really helps set the tone for the rest of the day.
4. Two weeks ago I set some personal goals for myself that I have been able to stay on track with so far! There’s no greater feeling than setting your mind to something and accomplishing it! I hope I can keep it up over the next couple weeks.
That’s it for me! I hope you all are staying cool (I know its hotter than hell in many parts of the country), staying safe (for those in CO affected by the fires) and enjoying your summer. Have a great weekend!
