T.G.I.F!!!! Seriously, this Friday could not have come at a better time. I’m actually really proud of myself for how well I’ve been keeping it all together despite the chaos of this month. With The Hubs out of town this week, I easily could have made excuses to miss workouts, flake on other obligations, or just quit on myself in general, but I powered through and made it all happen. I owe a TON of gratitude to the employees of Gap Intelligence and Ten Stories who have helped, not only entertain our new puppy while I adjust to a new work routine, but who have also shown her such care and love which helps her to become a well socialized dog.
1. Well first and foremost, the Greatest thing of all was brining home our new puppy, Summer last weekend. She has brought a new energy to our lives that had been missing for a while. Despite the sleepless nights, she’s been an absolute joy. She’s sweet, very brave, and loves to cuddle. Olive is very happy to have a sister even though she’s not quite big enough for Olive to really run around with yet. Olive has been doing a Great job at being gentle and patient, and I’m a very proud mom of them both.
2. A huge part of having a puppy is socializing them early so they grow up to be brave and friendly dogs. I took Summer to Jen’s house this week to meet her kids, not only hoping that Summer would do well with the poking, hard petting and happy shrieking, but also with the hope that Carson would get over his fear of dogs just a bit. All I can say is GREAT SUCCESS!!! Carson was thrilled and fascinated, and not only pet her but wanted to hold her too. In a classic little kid move, Leila said, “Mom, can we get a dog?” to which Jen expertly replied, “This is our dog. She lives at Betsy’s house”. Summer was patient, did some cute roll over moves, and didn’t show any fear at all.
3. I allowed myself a break last night and went out for some wine and apps with Jen. She’s been in Chicago the last two weeks so we had a bunch to catch up on. My work is interesting and exciting to me, but I have to remind myself to take some time out to enjoy the relationships in my life, that are the foundation on which every goal and success I’ve ever had are built upon. It was Great to step away from the computer for an evening, enjoy the waterfront and the sunset (and the wine).
I’m tired but happy on this Friday morning. A busy weekend lies ahead but I feel prepared to tackle everything on my list. I hope you all have a lovely and refreshing weekend as well.
