What the heck universe? This week was supposed to totally chill and normal, but it wound up being total madness once again. To be fair, I had mentally prepared myself for the insanity to last through Tuesday, but here we are on Friday and I feel completely depleted. Lucky for me I have a weekend of total freedom ahead of me. Time to think about what went right, and forget about what was less than desirable. Ready, GO!
1. Last night my friend Katie and I attended a really cool cooking demo at the Grant Grill. The chef there used to teach workshops with Julia Child back in the early 2000’s and they are doing a special menu throughout the month of August featuring recipes from these classes. This event was Great for several reasons. The first being that someone else prepared food and served it to me. Secondly, it was really fun to not only watch him prepare the food and see his technique, but also to hear his personal stories about a truly inspiring woman. Lastly, hanging out with Katie is always a blast. She’s one of my friends that I wish I saw more of. I’m really grateful for any time we get to spend together.
2. Speaking of people I wish I saw more of, my other friend (also named Katie), her sister and their friend were in town for a couple of days this week before setting off on a camping adventure up the California coast. I haven’t seen any of them since Katie’s wedding in Switzerland more than a year ago (epic party!) so it was really Great to catch up and hear about what’s been new in all of their lives. I’m really proud to have such accomplished and interesting friends (Phd student! Successful brewery owner! Elementary teacher in Bangkok!)
The best part of this whole week is the next few days where I truly have no obligations. Olive’s 3rd birthday is on Saturday, so I’m taking her to the beach, and that pretty much sums up my plans. I’m sure I’ll tinker around in the kitchen for a bit, but I have nothing pressing going on which is amazing after what I’ve been through lately. Sleep, sun and quiet time (as quiet as you can get with a puppy running around)! I hope you are as excited about your days ahead, whatever your plans may be, as I am. Enjoy!
