I’ve had a really Great week in Minnesota this week. There’s definitely a part of me that belongs to this state. I felt it as soon as we landed in Minneapolis. Despite the gray, drizzly weather, its been exactly what I needed.
1. I’ve written about our cabin many times. Its been in our family for over 60 years, and I spent every summer of my young life here. Although many new cabins have been built along our island path, the essence of this place never seems to change very much. It’s always been a place for peace, quiet, and more casual pace than your everyday life. I’ve never been here this late in the year, and I’m kind of loving it. Many of the neighbors have closed up and left for the year, so it almost seems like we have the island to ourselves. The gray weather is always a novelty to this SoCal girl, so I’m drinking it up. I never really get the opportunity to snuggle under a quilt and listen to the rain pour down on the roof like I did last night. Being here has definitely given my brain and soul the vacation it needed.
2. Earlier in the week I was styling food in Minneapolis. I always love being on a set, but the best part of the job was catching up with some old friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. Hearing of their new endeavors and sharing MANY laughs is always a Great thing.
Only two things on my Great list this week, but two REALLY Great things in my opinion. Sometimes its the big stuff too……
Heading home tomorrow to make a birthday cake for a very special girl who turns three on Sunday. I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.
