You know, my peace pumpkin photo looked a lot better on my phone after 2 glasses of wine. I guess you’ll all just have to blur your eyes a little bit to enjoy my handiwork. I never said I was a good craftsman, just an enthusiastic one.
Here we are, another weekend is upon us. Most of all I’m grateful that the temperature is getting closer to normal (at least temporarily) so I don’t have to listen to all of the complaining, but there were a few other Great parts to this week as well.
1. I like to go to yoga in Ocean Beach, a neighboring town, on Friday mornings. Parking is notoriously difficult around the yoga studio, and Fridays are street sweeping day which limits the parking even more. For some reason, this one spot, 2 blocks from the studio, and a non-parallel parking spot is always available. There is no Greater feeling than rounding the corner and seeing that one open spot amidst a sea of parked up curbs, especially when it’s early in the morning and parking is time sensitive. I’m not sure why that exact same spot is always open, but I am super grateful to have discovered it.
2. I went to see Phantom of the Opera with my friend Katie this week. I always forget how much I enjoy live theater. It’s amazing that those actors (especially Phantom of the Opera) can sing like that night after night. Of course I’ve been singing all the songs at home all week long, and my voice is already starting to give out.
Side note: The older I get the more things I notice that I’m “turning into my Mom”. As a kid, I spent an equal amount of time at my best friend Katy’s house (there are a lot of Katies in my life) and her mom used to blast show tunes and sing along at top volume. I smiled to myself this week when belting out Phantom of the Opera and thought, “I’m turning into Katy’s mom too”.
3. Sometimes at my work I record scratch tracks of scripts so the editors can edit together the video before we actually have the professional voiceover recorded. This week, a client who saw the rough cut of our edit with my scratch track on it called and said they liked my take so much that they wanted me to do the actual voiceover. HA! This is hilarious to me because I absolutely hate the sound of my voice on tape, but the customer is always right so I went ahead and recorded the official voiceover. Things like this are exactly what I love about working in production. Random requests, and fun problem solving. Never a dull moment!
I plan to take full advantage of the cooler temps this weekend and cook 2 weeks worth of food since I think it’s going to get hot again. I’ve been surviving on quesadillas, ice cream and cold beers since I can’t bear to turn on the oven, and I’ll admit I’m not feeling so Great or energetic. Time to get back to real food nutrition. Hope you all have an awesome weekend. I’m living vicariously through your pumpkin patch and sweater wearing pics on Facebook.
