This post is sponsored all opinions are my own. Jump into summer with some delicious dairy-free, plant-based frozen Dessert Bars. Perfect for a hot day by the pool, or a sweet after dinner treat.
It’s time for the latest edition of my favorite game (yell it with me now);
I have been sneaking plant-based food products into my husband’s meals for years. For some reason, if I mention up front that something is dairy free or plant based, he’ll immediately write it off.
I’ve found over the years that nine times out of ten, he will love the product in a “blind taste test”, and is generally impressed after I disclose, so I’m not sure what it’s going to take for him to fully trust me.
It is kind of a fun game anyway, so I don’t really mind.
This week’s test was Daiya’s Dairy-Free Frozen Dessert Bars. Maybe you’re familiar with other Daiya plant-based products like their pizza, burritos or even their cheese style shreds. They are the leader in plant-based comfort foods. When I heard they were branching into frozen dessert bars, I was all about it.
Ice cream has long been my most favorite dessert item, but I’m finding as I get older, dairy and I aren’t such great friends anymore. These plant based frozen Dessert Bars are not only creamy and rich tasting, but they’re also made with premium ingredients including semisweet chocolate, fair trade dark chocolate, real vanilla extract and 100% Arabica coffee.
With flavors like Chocolate Fudge Crunch, Classic Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel Swirl and Espresso Coffee there’s something for everyone. I promise you; these were the best tasting dairy-free frozen dessert I have ever tried.
I know what you’re wondering, but did The Hubs like it?
Here’s how it went down.
Now that it’s summer (finally!) we’ve uncovered our deck furniture and have begun our summer movie nights outside. He gets the projector set up; I make the snacks.
I popped some popcorn, made some drinks, and strategically placed a box of Daiya frozen dessert bars on the snack tray. As we settled in, he grabbed the box and opened a bar.
Now, it says right there on the package that it’s dairy free, but of course he didn’t even read it. All he said was “mmmmm are these new?”
I waited until he finished it.
Me: Did you like it?
Him: Yeah, super creamy.
Me: Did you notice it was dairy free?
Him: No. Is it? Tastes pretty good.
And there you have it folks. The riveting enthusiasm that surrounds my life!
We did wind up trying (and finishing) all 4 flavors. The Chocolate Fudge Crunch was my personal favorite (which is surprising because I’m not normally a chocolate person).
If you’re jumping into summer with a pool party, picnic or family reunion, and are looking to swap in some more plant-based items into your diet, then these Daiya frozen dessert bars are perfect for you.
Daiya’s selection of deliciously plant-based foods can be found in more than 25,000 grocery stores in the U.S., including Sprouts, Kroger, Safeway and Publix, as well as most natural food retailers.
Give them a try then come back and let me know which flavor is your favorite.
