I have to admit, I’m not so great at staycations. Regular old vacations I can totally rock, but when it comes to staycations, I generally find it impossible to truly relax no matter how hard I try.
Lately I have been craving a real vacation, but a busy schedule is preventing that from happening, so I’ve been implementing tiny actions to help me feel like I’m on vacay every day.
This pretty much involves me using a curly straw and a drink umbrella always, and wearing sunglasses constantly.
I have to say. It hasn’t been as relaxing as I hoped.
Vacation mousepad anyone? Yeah, not helping.
I did really enjoy a fancy post-hot yoga “tropical” water bottle, but probably because I was already relaxed from the workout.
Seriously though, how do people relax on “staycation” when there’s always something to be done?
What I realized is that I was putting too much pressure on the situation. I was trying so hard to relax, that it actually was making me more stressed out, so I called it quits on my pathetic attempt at what I thought a staycation should be, grabbed some ice cold Pineapple Mandarin Orange Palm Breeze, and plopped myself poolside with no other intentions than feeling the sun on my face.
You know what? It worked! I’m not sure if it was the tropical and refreshing flavor of the Palm Breeze (also available in Ruby Red Citrus!) or the warmth of the sun, but I genuinely felt like I was on vacation even if it was only for a short time.
I can get used to this! #VacayEveryDay might just have to become my new motto.
Please Drink Responsibly
