Air Fried Rolled Potato Tacos

I am beyond stoked to bring you this recipe for crispy AIR FRIED rolled potato tacos. What the heck is air frying? Lets just say it’s a miracle of modern science, and my new best friend.

Despite my love for fried foods, I have long had an aversion to frying due to the extreme mess it causes, and the gross lingering smell it leaves behind. No donut or fried chicken is worth stinking up my house for a week or more. Recently my friends at the Idaho Potato Commission asked me if I would be interested in creating a potato recipe using an air fryer.

Huh? A what?

Never one to back down from a challenge, I accepted, and although I was hopeful this would be the miracle I always dreamed of, I had my doubts.

When the Gourmia Air Fryer arrived I quickly changed my tune. This thing is AMAZING. You can honestly fry nearly anything you can imagine to a perfect crisp without using any oil at all. ZERO OIL! No mess. No smell. Super easy clean up.

I’m in love.

Air Fried Rolled Potato Tacos

Since leaving San Diego on January 29th, I have yet to eat a taco. That’s three whole taco-free months. I’m not sure if it’s the fear that no NorCal taco will ever live up to the authentic Mexican ones I would get from my local taco shop in San Diego, or if I’m afraid it will make me terribly homesick, but I have found myself longing for my beloved crispy rolled potato tacos that have cured me of many a hangover.

Seeing as it’s the day after Cinco de Mayo, and I can only assume that several of you readers might be nursing a hangover yourselves, I think it’s finally time to end my taco strike.

Air Fried Rolled Potato Tacos

All you need is some leftover mashed potatoes, corn tortillas, cheese and a Gourmia Air Fryer. NO OIL!!! Crispy and delicious in under 20 minutes. Plus, you can totally get stuff done (like playing with your dogs) while they crisp up in the fryer. You don’t have to stand a vigilant watch over a giant vat of oil in order to avoid starting a kitchen fire like you would have to with regular frying.

Crispy air fried tortilla chips. Made with NO OIL!

If you run out of potatoes and you still have tortillas left, you can make some chips!

I’ve also tried and tested:

Crispy air fried buffalo wings

Buffalo wings. Hubs approved! (and he is super particular about his wings)

Crispy air fried mozzarella sticks

Fried mozzarella sticks

Crispy air fried churro bites

Churro bites (essentially donut holes)

Crispy air fried grilled cheese sandwich

Grilled cheese sandwich.

Crispy air fried onion rings

Onion rings.

All were perfectly crispy and super tasty, and helped score the Gourmia Air Fryer a permanent piece of real estate on my (super selective) countertop.

Apparently you can also cook steak and seafood in this thing, but I have yet to try that for myself. Coming soon!

If you’re as stoked as I am about this incredible piece of modern machinery, good news! I’m giving one away right now! All you have to do is enter my contest below and you could be enjoying some crispy rolled potato tacos the next time a hangover strikes…..or if you’re just hungry.

Idaho spud fries that aren’t actually fried? That’s what I want, right this minute. Sign me UP! Your tacos look awesome, too. I sort of do a thing like that with sw pots. You have inspired me to post it!

My favorite fried food is definitely chicken. I hardly ever have it that way due to the high fat content. I’m also a fan of fried potatoes but have learned to enjoy them baked in the oven.

I’d love to make donuts at home! But these potato rolled tacos might be my very first thing I’d make. I’m still in San Diego, but this sounds so much healthier than the taco shop!

My mind is blown. I LOVE fried food and never let myself eat it because a)grease and b)FAT.

This makes me want to make ALL THE FRIED FOODS. Eggrolls? YES PLEASE.

And don’t be afraid of the tacos up here. Try the Casa Sanchez salsa, which is the BOMB and go to your local greasy spoon. Some people know what they’re doing, promise. 🙂

I’m pretty sure curly fries would be the first thing my kids would demand me to make if I had an air fryer! Looks amazing and I love your doggies!
