This fresh strawberry salsa is the summer snack recipe that everyone is raving about. Straight from the garden, this is the salsa you never knew you were missing in your life.
I love summertime more than words can express!
Besides the abundance of fresh foods (like strawberries), I love the sun, warmth, flip flops, baseball season……the list goes on and on! Even though I live in San Diego, the land of perpetual summer, I still really appreciate the true summer months, June-October (summer lasts a bit longer here).
A few weekends ago, I had a lovely summer gathering, and my friend Angie brought over some strawberry salsa. Whoa nelly! It was amazing!
I had never had strawberry salsa before, but it seemed like a no brainer once I had it. Recreating this recipe became my new obsession.
Fresh Strawberry Salsa
I love that I’m currently growing everything in this bowl with the exception of the limes. There is nothing I love more than growing my own food, but if you’re more of an urbanite, or have a brown thumb, feel free to pick up these great seasonal ingredients at the grocery store or farmers market.
Substitute whatever bell pepper or spicy pepper variety you prefer. The jalapeรฑo I used in this batch wasn’t very spicy at all so don’t be deterred if you can’t handle spicy food.
Obviously, this is an easy recipe to serve with chips, but we also enjoy it on fish tacos and as a sort of summer crostini.
Toast some sliced baguette, spread each piece with goat cheese, and top it with a spoonful of strawberry salsa. Simple yet, amazingly tasty. I’ve had several friends ask me for the recipe after serving the crostini at parties.
I’m off to Indianapolis today for a friend’s wedding this weekend. It should be a total rager because all our friends are coming from all over the country! I’m hoping the rain will stay away long enough for Tim and Abbie to get some gorgeous pics! They are a FABULOUS couple and I wish them a lifetime of happiness!
I hope you all have a great, sunny, perfect summer weekend!
