No longer do I have a puppy. My sweet Olive turns one today! Although she can still be extremely maddening at times, watching Olive grow has been wonderful and gratifying. I’ve learned so much not only about puppy rearing, but about myself as well (especially my patience levels). As much as I’ve written on this blog about never wanting to have kids, in a lot of ways, I still feel like I understand so many aspects of parenting.Â
As any labrador does, Olive loves to swim. She also loves wrestling with Tally, bones, and tossing around her toys. She’s sweet and submissive, poses well for photos, and is a pretty good listener except when other dogs are around.
She’s still working on coming when she’s called when we’re at the beach, and jumping on people who come to the door. We’ll get there…….someday.
For her birthday I have a trip to the beach planned. She’s really been missing it since she got spayed 2 weeks ago and had a cone on her head for 11 days. I also got her a shark shaped tuffy toy….her favorite. Oh yeah, and of course I baked her a doggy birthday cake. I couldn’t resist.
Happy Birthday Olive! I love you sweet dog! You filled up an empty place in my heart after we lost Grace, and you’ve made my life better in a million ways. Cheers to many more birthday’s to come.
