DIY Snack Stadium

November 11, 2016 By betsy Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored all opinions are my own. Every game day needs an epic snack stadium! Why stop at chips and dips when you can easily assemble a festive dessert buffet? Grab a bag of your favorite chocolates and impress your friends with display skills.

Snack Stadium made of m&ms and snickers

From the dictionary:

com·pete kəmˈpēt/

verb 1. strive to gain or win something by defeating or establishing superiority over others who are trying to do the same.

For 17 weeks every fall and winter, millions of people gather around their television sets to watch their favorite teams compete in battle on the football field.

Each summer when football season draws near, I start to think of ways to top last year’s snack spread. I do research, and test recipes. I’ve even been known to sketch out my ideas. I truly believe that epic snacks add to the football experience.

It’s not enough for me to set out a bowl of chips and open a container of store bought dip. My chips need to be homemade, and artfully arranged.

My dip needs to be the best darn dip people have ever tasted. I need themed serving ware. We’re talking full on appetizer display. I want people to come to my house and be blown away by my snacks. When they leave, I want them talking about the food, not the game.

I train for this all year long. No one will out-snack me this football season.

During my pre-season training, I decided it was time to up my sweets game a bit. I’ve got my cheesy dip and chip moves down pat, and no one can beat me at my bacon game, but every good party needs to have a great dessert spread too.

While shopping at Target, inspiration struck while browsing the candy aisle. When I saw the variety of Snickers and M&M’s, I knew what I needed to do.

I needed to build a desert version of my classic snack stadium.

Snack Stadium

They first step to building an epic snack stadium is finding the right vessel to hold it. After a bit of trial and error, I decided that a disposable baking pan, a take out container and 2 lids would do the trick for what I had in mind. Really anything you have on hand will work, you just need to have a little imagination.

Once I decided on a vessel, I started playing around with layouts. Crispy Snickers and blue M&M’s vs classic Snickers and red M&M’s was the match-up on this day.

This dessert spread could not be second rate. It had to be championship caliber if I was going to retain my title of snack master.

After much blood, sweat and tears (ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit) my M&M’s—Snickers match up turned out awesome. I really feel like I was able to raise my game day snacking game to a whole new level.

I’m ready to challenge any competitor that wants to take me on in the kitchen this football season.

If you give this recipe a try, I’d love to see it! Tag me @betsylife on Facebook or Instagram and I’ll share your creations!
